This week’s Prospect Spotlight features RHP Tanner Houck. The 2017 1st round draft pick features a fastball that sits 94-96 and tops out at 98 with good arm side run, a wipe out slider that sits 84-86, and a developing changeup that sits 88-90. Last season Houck posted a 4.01 era with a 1.402 whip and 8.9 k/9 in 107.2 innings between AA and AAA. He also played in the Arizona Fall League and had a 3.47 era, 1.371 whip, and 10 k/9 in 23.1 innings. Though he will most likely start the year in AAA, he could make things interesting this spring with the last spot in the big league rotation up for grabs.
